Born and raised in Ithaca, NY Elizabeth has had a passion for theater and team sports since before she can remember. She grew up at The Hangar Theatre in the Next Generation Theater program and spent her free time playing baseball in little league. Her joy for collaboration and teamwork along with creative movement and storytelling followed her into adulthood where she began teaching theater, dance, and yoga and began working professionally both internationally and locally in the theater arts. She is a produced playwright and has performed both in theater and film. As a neurodivergent artist she is passionate about cultivating safe spaces and healthy communication as we learn about ourselves, each other and endeavor to make the world a better place through the pure act of play.

"Elizabeth cultivates a 'playground' atmosphere, which invites the artists to expand into their capacities and creative potential" - Tyler Gardella

"Elizabeth is one of the BEST artistic collaborators I’ve ever worked with. Her attention and prioritization of health and care feel revolutionary in this industry built on a “show must go on” mentality. My truest artistic self is able to shine through when Elizabeth’s around."- Carley Robinson

"Elizabeth Seldin is an exceptional teacher, always taking into account the needs of her students, fostering a creative and safe atmosphere, and teaching her students not only theatre, but tools they can use throughout their lives. She works collaboratively both with other teachers and her students and is a joy to teach with."- Evie Hammer-Lester

Elizabeth crafted a safe and playful environment that allowed me to be vulnerable in my exploration of acting. Her insightful acting excercises paired beautifully with her ability to articulate and demonstrate how something functions in relationship to scene, character - offering wonderful guidance and celebration and is genuinely invested in and excited by your growth as a performer! - Lilac O'Brien

Community Arts Partnership Specific Opportunity Stipend Grant received for work with GIAC Jumpers during the fall 2020 and spring 2021 academic year. As lead teaching artist Elizabeth Seldin guided k-5 graders in creating their own show about Black Lives Matter during the pandemic shutdown.

Community Arts Partnership Creative Recovery Grant received for a co-written production between Elizabeth Seldin and Carley Robinson of "In Case You Forgot" a new musical that explores themes of love, friendship, death., race, bias, addiction, ghosts and ultimately connection.

Elizabeth Seldin received the Camilla Schade Teaching Artist Award from The Hangar Theater in 2020 for her work with Next Generation and Project Four students.
The award is given to a “Theatre educator who has demonstrated a positive impact on the lives of students and who embodies the highest standards of the profession”

“Et Le Lion” touched me in an unexpected way. Ms. Seldin’s acute observations of the human condition were transformative. She has a gift, not only of magic, but also of words. Her prose, poetry, music and aura were bewitching. "

“There’s a seductive quality of haunted spaces,” Seldin continues. “Something happened there—behind the curtain—something unseen that wants to be seen.”
